5. Conclusions

The conclusions of this study are:

  • in a "good" bandage, OCT images a porous surface due to the vertical orientation of the lamina.
  • in a "bad" bandage, OCT images a sealed surface due to a superfical horizontally oriented lamina.
  • OCT offers a means of predicting the function performance of a hemostatic bandage.

    • With above lesson learned from OCT, we are now able to explore other optical methods that will be sensitive to the orientation of the superficial lamina of a bandage, but allow surveillance over a large area of bandage.
