Light Transport in Tissue

Phase function

Any phase function may be used with the Monte Carlo method. A normalized phase function describes the probability density function for the angle at which a photon is scattered. Anisotropic scattering is characterized by a non- uniform density function. Random scattering angles with non-uniform distributions may be generated using the techniques of Appendix A. Generating functions for isotropic, Henyey-Greenstein, and modified Henyey-Greenstein phase functions are given in this appendix.
